About me

And is it so—I shall be like Thy Son!
Is this the grace which He for me has won?
Father of glory (thought beyond all thought!)—
In glory, to His own blest likeness brought!

Oh, Jesus, Lord, who loved me like to Thee?
Fruit of Thy work, with Thee, too, there to see
Thy glory, Lord, while endless ages roll,
Myself the prize and travail of Thy soul.

These are two verses of a hymn written by John Nelson Darby, and represent well what I am discovering life to be all about.
God has an original and ultimate intention for mankind (which He made full provision for the partaking of, in His Son Jesus), and that intention in a simplified way is seen in a couple of bible verses:
The first comes from the first chapter of the bible and is the first words spoken concerning humanity,

"And God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, and after our likeness...'" (Gen. 1:26)

The next verse was spoken with a view to showing Christ's relationship with humanity, in that that relationship was something that had to do with the design and destiny of humanity as initially hinted at, but not fully revealed in Genesis 1.

"For whom He (God) foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son..." (Rom. 8:29)...

So the content of this blog will probably mainly be book reviews, and various material that I have found helpful to understanding the plan of God for man, and how to really become a part of that.  Maybe I'll some good videos from Youtube.  I will tried to provide some kind of commentary here and there on contemporary issues and events, more with the goal of provoking people to reflection and thought, maybe even discussion if it is valuable (never getting lost in arguments, time is too precious).

Here's a little bit of personal background information, just because I know it helps to know a little about an author.
I'm 25 (as of the beginning of 2014), and about to finally get through college (degree in Spanish).  I am a manager in a Mexican Restaurant about 20 minutes from DC.  I grew up in small, small, small town Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plains (I had to google those lyrics).  I like to read (like literature is currently a big part of my life, I'm young and in discovery mode).  I like meaningful conversations, people trying to figure what life is about, that kind of stuff (I know it is too intense to do that all the time).
